Millstone on Burbage Rocks
An old abandoned millstone sits below Burbage Edge at the bottom of the Burbage Valley in the Peak District National Park, the hills in the distance are Carl Wark on the left and Higger Tor. The millstones are a well known feature in the Peak District, in this area there are many stones abandoned having been left incomplete after being cut from the nearby quarries. Stanage Edge which is situated just behind Higger Tor is perhaps the best location to view the abandoned millstones. This photograph was taken during early September so the Derbyshire landscape still had the lovely summer green combined with the brilliant purples in the heather.
