This is An Lochan Uaine in the Glenmore Forest Park, the lochan is accessed from a forest walk starting from the forest lodge & Glenmore visitors centre just off the road to the Cairngorm Mountain Ski Area. Simply meaning 'Green Lochan' the green colour is reputed to be caused by the local fairies washing their clothes.
Lochan Uaine is not that large so it is easy to cover all sides in one visit, there is a wooden visitors platform at one end and a beach area at the other so you can choose your preferred viewpoint depending on the lighting conditions and position.
