Review of the Year - 2015 Photography Trips and Experiences
2015 turned out to be a busy year for my photography business which experienced another year of excellent growth. At the end of the summer I made the decision to shift my work pattern to enable me to allocate more time to photography business. I now have a more flexible day job which allow me to allocate at least one full weekday to the business. I've found the extra time extremely useful and have been working hard behind the scenes developing my stock imagery and website rankings along with developing a new range of printed products which are due to launch in March.
This year my images have appeared in a number of high profile magazine and national newspapers including Countryfile Magazine, the Sunday Times, the Guardian and the Telegraph. During May this year I undertook my first large commission which involved capturing images of landmarks, beaches and harbours along the North Yorkshire coastline. The final images appeared in many publications in connection with the new offshore wind farm.
During the year I managed to fit in many photography trips to locations that I have been hoping to visit for a number of years including my first trip to Exmoor National Park and a visit over Christmas to Whitby. the year started with a highly successful trip to Aviemore in the Cairngorms during which I was incredibly lucky to catch full winter conditions with deep snow and perfect blue skies. For the first time, I sent a week on the Ayrshire coastline capturing images along the coastal path and further inland within the boundaries of the Galloway Forest. At the start of autumn I made the decision to stay a little closer to home and concentrate on capturing the changing autumn colours wishing the Lake District and Yorkshire a Dales national park. On 5 consecutive weeks I made trips north to visit the areas around Ambleside, Keswick, Grasmere, Malham, Aysgarth and finally the following the Wharfe Valley.
My 2016 landscape photography calendars again proved to be a huge success. This year's range of 4 calendars sold out early in December even after again extending the print runs. 2016 is looking to be another exciting year. Plans for photography trips within the UK and abroad are starting to be finalised. The first trip of the year is planned for early February when I will be visiting the Lake District for a few days to (hopefully) capture the winter conditions in the mountains. Other trips include extending my coverage of the Yorkshire Coastline and spending more time visiting the North Yorkshire Moors which is an area I am yet to explore properly. We spend Christmas in Whitby so were able to make a couple of trips to get my bearings and will begin to capture images in the spring.
