A few days in Paris - travel photography from my recent trip

I recently had the opportunity to spend a few days in Paris as part of a weeks holiday to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. I managed to get by with my little Panasonic TZ8 and a handy Gorillapod bendy tripod and managed to get a few shots in among the thousand of other tourists and photographers all aiming for similar spots.

The buildings in Paris are beautiful, the architecture and history is truly amazing. It can be quite difficult to get things lined up with so many people around all getting in the way, if I were to go again I think I would head over in Spring when the sunset/sunrises are more manageable and there are less tourists in the key shooting locations.

The classic photographs of Paris seem to feature one of the main famous scenes; The Eiffel Tower at night, the River Seine running past Notre Dame Cathedral and the Arc de Triumph at night with the traffic running around the busy roundabout. I managed a few shots from the banks of the Seine at dusk along with a few from the long walks we took around this amazing city.

The Rodin Sculpture Museum is well worth a trip if you have time, the sculptures in the gardens and the house are really beautiful, there are also original paintings from Monet, Renoir & Van Gough.

If you fancy a photography trip to Paris Welshot Imaging run tours ranging from an overnight trip to a few days, judging by their recent blog & Facebook updates from a recent trip it looks like a great way to photograph the city, I'm not sure I would manage the all night photo session though!
