Having a rare day off last week I decided to have a good walk around the centre of Sheffield to shoot some of the architecture and have a look for new locations and viewpoints for some upcoming night shoots, the weather on the day was pretty good for photography with some lovely side lighting illuminating the buildings. Sheffield Street Art and Mural Photography

After a failed sunrise trip to Higger Tor due to zero visibility in the low autumn cloud with AMP Photography, we headed back down the hill into the centre of Sheffield to be greeted with some beautiful early morning light hitting the architecture of the City. We concentrated on the area around Sheffield Hallam University and made our way down from the Cheesegrater Q-Park down past the SHU union teapot building. Alongside more traditional architecture photography we were on a mission to capture some of the relatively new wall Murals which feature David Attenborough, Charles Darwin and Harry Brearley.

Photos of Sheffield City Centre - Winter Garden and Tudor Square

Now becoming one of the most visited locations in Sheffield, the Sheffield Winter Garden is a city centre is a large temperate greenhouse which was opened by the Queen in 2003. The Sheffield Winter Garden was built as part of the Sheffield City Centre Heart of the City regeneration project which included the nearby Peace Gardens and development of the Sheffield Millennium Galleries.

Newcastle Quayside Night Photography and my Photographic Beginnings

One of the reasons I originally started gaining an interest photography was after looking through some of the photographs from around the Newcastle Quayside from both during the day and at when lit up at night, in particular shots from Greame Peacock who at the time had shots in nearly every Tourism and University brochure showing the area. Another photographer who had a great portfolio of images from Newcastle is Steve Mayes, I remember seeing his black and white prints at the Biscuit Factory and thinking this is something that I would like to get involved with.

Sheffield Peace Gardens - Sheffield City Urban Night Photography

The Sheffield Peace Gardens were redeveloped at the same time as the Winter Garden and Sheffield Millennium Galleries as part of the 140 million pound inner city Heart of the City project. The first architecture photograph took a little while to set up, I used a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens in order to fit as much of the view.
